Spiritual Direction and Supervision
Cheri Hudspith - Spiritual Director and Supervisor
Are you a church staff member, missionary, or lay leader? Do you find yourself at a place where you have more questions than answers about your relationship with the Lord or your vocation? Do you desire to flourish in your life, your life as a leader? If so, I’d love to sit with you and explore the activity of God in your life.
We’d start with a 30-35 minute “get to know you” conversation. If we are a potential match, we’d schedule an introductory session. If we are not a fit, but you remain interested in Spiritual Direction, I’d love to connect you to other possibilities. I live in the Central Time Zone in a suburb of Dallas. I meet with people in person, via phone, or Zoom. Click on the link below to schedule a conversation.
I am also a trained Supervisor for Spiritual Directors. The scheduling link below gives you the option to schedule a Supervision Session.
My story includes graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2008 with a Master of Arts in Theology. I completed the Selah Spiritual Direction Training Program in 2013. I am an active member of ESDA. For more insight into my spiritual journey, you are welcome to peruse posts at www.beloved-daughter.blogspot.com.
Resources for Spiritual Directors
ESDA
At Grafted Life, we believe that spiritual direction is an important ministry to deepen our awareness of and engagement with God. Many believers are hungry to have someone come alongside them and help them discern God’s activity for the purpose of their continued spiritual growth.
We established ESDA to support Christian spiritual directors in their work, promote the ministry of spiritual direction in the church and connect believers with skilled spiritual directors.
ESDA’s wide network of spiritual directors share 3 key traits:
Agreement with our doctrinal statement
Successful completion of a formal spiritual direction training program
Concurrence with our code of ethics in their spiritual direction work

Spiritual Direction Training
SUSTAINABLE FAITH SCHOOL OF SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
The School of Spiritual Direction is a 2-year certificate program that prepares you to serve as a spiritual director. We have cohorts in over two dozen American cities, Canada, the UK, and Europe. Our goal is to make spiritual direction a normal and widely available form of pastoral care inside and outside churches.
If you’re new to the world of spiritual direction and need first to experience it and grow your understanding of the contemplative tradition, we offer an easy on-ramp with our SSD Primer. For a very reduced cost, you can meet monthly (online) with a small group to prepare for Year 1 of the School of Spiritual Direction.

SELAH CERTIFICATE IN SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
Welcome to Selah ~ a program, a ministry, and a way of being with God that we offer in spiritual direction. Spiritual direction is a gift that’s nurtured more than a skill that’s taught. Thus Selah (the program) and selah (the Hebrew word occurring in the psalms) craft a space for nurturing the holy mystery of what happens when we pause reflectively, in listening attentiveness to God. While everyone can grow in this awareness, we believe that God calls some among us to a deeper ministry of spiritual attentiveness and companionship, and we’d like to nurture that gift within you! Here’s a glimpse of how our approach is defined:
SELAH IS INTENTIONALLY TRINITARIAN IN THEOLOGY
paying attention to how God the Father is actively shaping a person’s life through the Holy Spirit in ways that form them ever more deeply into the image of Christ.
SELAH IS INTENTIONALLY CONTEMPLATIVE IN STYLE
characterized by an attentive resting in Christ’s presence in the direction time, noticing the movement and activity of the Holy Spirit.
SELAH IS INTENTIONALLY BIBLICAL IN GROUNDING
drawing our understanding of God and his ways from the Scriptures.
In this threefold context, we grow from the wisdom and experience of the Church, through readings in the classics of spiritual formation, and through the learned practice of spiritual direction together.
Selah’s curriculum is designed to nurture each participant in two main areas: a foundational understanding of the theology of spiritual formation (through faculty teaching during retreat residencies, and reading and reflection assignments in between residencies), and the central practice of spiritual direction (through small group experiences in retreat residencies, and individual experiences of offering spiritual direction and reflecting on it with a Selah faculty supervisor in between residencies).
